B. Thomas Shea
Louisiana
Hello! My name is Tom Shea. I am a family law attorney practicing in Southwest Louisiana. In 2017, I started Tom Shea Family Law, LLC to help people with difficult family law issues. My practice is focused exclusively on family law: divorce, community property, child custody, child support, spousal support, relocations, modifications, contempt and other types of enforcement. I have handled several hundred family law cases at the district court level. I have also successfully litigated cases through the Third Circuit Court of Appeal and the Louisiana Supreme Court. I practice primarily in Calcasieu and its surrounding parishes, including Beauregard, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis. I am originally from Northampton, Massachusetts. I attended Ithaca College, where I studied business and writing. I graduated summa cum laude and Valedictorian from the School of Business in 2006. After college, I decided to do something completely different, and I set out for Louisiana where I attended LSU Law School in Baton Rouge. At LSU Law, I co-founded the International Law Society, and I worked as a publications intern at the LSU Press. In my third year, I wrote for and edited LSU Law’s annual “Assault and Flattery†comedy show. That year I was also lucky enough to meet my wife, Elizabeth, who is also a practicing attorney. In 2010, I graduated law school and moved to Lake Charles where I worked as an associate attorney at The Sanchez Law Firm. I’m a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association. In 2017, I was elected President of the SWLA Bar Association Family Law Section. I am the treasurer of the SWLA Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, and I serve on the Board of Directors for the SWLA Bar Foundation. I’m also currently pursuing an LLM in Taxation through the Graduate Tax Program at Villanova University.
