Shelley Fleming

Shelley Fleming is currently focused on Consumer Class Actions, as well as claims pertaining to wage and hour laws, employment discrimination, and domestic relations issues. She conducts in-depth research on consumer protection claims and laws nationwide, and also drafts motions and appellate briefs. Prior to joining the firm, Shelley served as a Staff Attorney at the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. In that position, she had the opportunity to conduct case management conferences, pre-trials, and settlement conferences. She attended civil and criminal trials and motion hearings. She drafted orders and opinions on discovery disputes, motions to dismiss and summary judgment, and evidence issues. Shelley Fleming served as Judicial Attorney at the Eighth District Court of Appeals, in which she attended oral arguments and drafted opinions and memorandum on civil, criminal, probate, and domestic relations cases. She also previously served as an Associate Attorney at an employment law firm, handling matters involving labor unions, ERISA benefits, workplace discrimination, and unfair labor practices, in both federal and state courts as well as in arbitration. She also handled issues involving collections, real estate, and domestic relations matters, drafting briefs before state common pleas and domestic relations courts, federal courts, and the Ohio Supreme Court. In addition to her experience in civil law, she also has a background in criminal law. She worked as a law clerk for several criminal defense attorneys, focusing her work on individuals charged with capital offenses. She interviewed clients in Ohio jails and prisons, prepared motions to exclude evidence, appeals, and petitions for writs of habeas corpus. She also volunteered at the Innocence Project, reviewing case files for eligibility and preparing motions to obtain DNA testing of old evidence. She currently teaches undergraduate courses on criminal law and procedure as well as military history.
