John Townsend’s goal as an attorney at Cooper & Bilbrey, P.C. has always been to help clients get through difficult situations. His consistent objective is to help clients manage their situation, come to a resolution, and move on with their lives and businesses. Prior to attending law school, John Townsend worked as a real estate broker and in the construction field. He holds a SC Real Estate Broker’s licence, a SC Residential Builder’s license, a USCG OUPV license, and has civil litigation experience in cases involving admiralty and maritime matters, business disputes, construction issues, contracts, personal injury, and real estate matters. He has an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has served on the South Carolina Bar Trial and Appellate Advocacy Section Council, the South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Committee, and the South Carolina Bar International Law Committee. He is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and a member and former Port Director for the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute. He is a long-time member and former President of the Mount Pleasant Sertoma Club.
