Emily Hunter Plotkin
Middle District of Tennessee, Tennessee, Western District of Tennessee, 6th Circuit
With more than fifteen years’ experience as a labor and employment attorney, I have a pragmatic business acumen developed through strategic partnership with clients, both as an outside counsel and in-house counsel at a Fortune 500 manufacturing and automotive services company. In addition to providing general employment advice and counsel to clients, I also have spearheaded employment compliance projects to ensure company policies and platforms match employment laws across all fifty states. I also have significant experience representing employers in claims brought through alternative dispute resolution programs. As such, I recognize the importance to both sides of getting matters resolved without resort to often needless and costly litigation, and am trained as a mediator to serve as the neutral to guide parties to resolution. In addition to my practice as a labor and employment attorney and mediator, I also teach legal writing at Vanderbilt University Law School. I am a graduate of Columbia University Law School in New York City, where I was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an Associate Articles Editor on the Columbia-VLA Journal of Law and the Arts.
