Nelson Ivan Burgos

In his early years, Nelson I. Burgos traveled the world as his father was in the United States Army. When he was ten years old, he returned with his family to live in Puerto Rico. Mr. Burgos attended the University of Puerto Rico from 1975 until 1976 before he entered the United States Air Force Academy where he graduated in 1980 with a B.S. degree in Biology. After completing his service in the United States Air Force, Mr. Burgos attended the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, and Notre Dame Law School – London Campus. In 1987, he graduated with a J.D. degree from the Catholic university of Maryland. His bar admissions include Maryland (1987), District of Columbia (1988), United States District Court for the District of Maryland (1988), United States District Court for the District of Columbia (1989), and the Supreme Court of the United States (1991). Mr. Burgos served as President of the Maryland Hispanic Bar Association from 1996-1997. His professional associations include the Maryland State Bar Association; Bar Association of Montgomery County; District of Columbia Bar Association; Maryland Trial Lawyers Association; Maryland Association of Justice; American Association for Justice; and the United States Air Force Academy Association of Graduates where he is a lifetime member and Class of 1980 Secretary. He is a former member of the Consumer Council of Maryland. Mr. Burgos is also a former member of the Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission for Montgomery County.
