Charlotte A. Nickerson is a founding member of the law firm of Nickerson Watts, PLLC. Ms. Nickerson graduated from Indiana University in 2003 with a degree in Journalism. She obtained her Juris Doctor in 2007 from the University of Kentucky School of Law, where she was a member of Moot Court and the Trial Advocacy Board. Following her graduation from law school, Ms. Nickerson clerked for Judge O. Reed Rhorer of the Franklin Family Court for a year before entering private practice. Ms. Nickerson ultimately joined the firm of S. Marie Hellard, P.S.C. in 2010, where she worked as an associate for nearly five years. In late 2014, Ms. Hellard dissolved her practice to join the judiciary and the law firm of Nickerson Watts, PLLC, was born. Ms. Nickerson has devoted the majority of her practice to the area of family law. She handles a broad variety of legal issues, including divorce, custody and timesharing, child support, paternity, adoption, domestic violence, and child abuse and neglect. Ms. Nickerson is also experienced in dealing with specialized issues such as appellate matters, pre-nuptial and ante-nuptial agreements, grandparent custody and visitation rights, and same-sex partnerships and custody rights. Ms. Nickerson also enjoys working with clients on estate planning, probate, bankruptcy, civil litigation, and personal injury matters, including car accidents, medical malpractice, and wrongful death claims. Ms. Nickerson has been trained and certified as a mediator by the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts and offers her services to attorneys and litigants interested in alternative dispute resolution in both family law matters and general civil matters. Ms. Nickerson has also received advanced training to serve regularly as a guardian ad litem, appointed by the courts to represent the interests of children in cases involving juvenile dependency, neglect and abuse; termination of parental rights; adoption; and complex custody disputes.
